The Icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa is now in Spain, spreading graces wherever She goes. The arrival of the Icon in Spain was a moving moment; it was a fine day, in contrast to the cold and rain of the previous day. The Guipuzcoa province Pro-Vida group together with the coordinators: Alicia Lattore and Lech Kowalewski drove to Bayonne Cathedral, in France. There they met with the French representatives who passed on to them the icon and "Life Mobile".
Our Lady entered Spain via Irun. After driving through the streets, they went up to the Ermita or Chapel-Shrine of Guadalupe on the mountain-top overlooking the estuary and sea. Here, Our Lady’s Icon was received with applause and the church-bells pealing. The offering ceremony was held, followed by the Rosary.
Back in the town, the Our Lady’s Icon was taken to the Siervas de Jesús convent (Servants of Jesus), where the sisters prayed before her in their chapel until the afternoon, when Mass was celebrated attended by about 400 people in the beautiful Church of Nuestra Señora del Juncal. Fr. Esteban Munilla, presiding, said in his homily that, just as in Old Testament times the Ark of the Covenant was carried to the field of battle, now, Our Lady, the Ark of the New Covenant, was going in pilgrimage to the places where the battle for Life is taking place.
After Mass, a procession carrying candles, with many children, escorted the Icon to a Residence run by religious sisters, the Parish Auxiliaries of Christ The Priest, where there was Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and prayer that night.
