The Presentation of the Lord at the parish of Our Lady of Czestochowa

The feast of the Presentation of the Lord, in Poland popularly known as the feast of Our Lady of Candles, is celebrated in Mexico for a whole week and known as Candlemas Feast. It is also the beginning of Mexican spring. For this occasion, on Sunday, February 1st, the peregrinating Czestochowa Icon was hosted by the parish of Our Lady of Czestochowa in the city of Neucaplan, of the metropoly of Mexico, in the archdiocese of Tlalnepantla.

On Sunday January 25, the church of St. John Paul II & St. Thomas More, the parish custody in Mexico City of our Lady of Czestochowa, was again, the scene of a mass in honor of Our Blessed Virgin Mary. Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Chicago

At the evening Sunday Mass November 30, at Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Chicago, the faithful  gave devotion to Our Lady of Czestochowa before she travels to Mexico to greet Our Lady of Guadalupe.  The same men who carried her in to the National Shrine of  Fr. Maximilian Kolbe at Marytown a few days ago, now, lovingly carried her through the Church of Our Lady of Mercy.

On Sunday, November 30th, Our Lady of Czestochowa arrived at the church of the Holy Angels in Bronzeville, Chicago. With great enthusiasm and joy, this noteworthy congregation received the holy icon. This place is famous nationwide for the work of Fr. George Clements who years previous spearheaded the building of a new church and developed an excellent school.   Now, Fr. Andrew Smith, a former Chicago police officer, is the pastor.

On Friday, November 28, in Mundelein, Illinois, the Ocean to Ocean pilgrimage team brought our icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa to the National Shrine of Fr. Maximilian Kolbe. A group of faithful men from Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Chicago, Illinois lovingly brought  the icon into the Shrine and offered special prayers seeking the intercession

Our Lady of Czestochowa Visits the University of Notre Dame on Thanksgiving Day in America, 2014

Fr. Theodore Hesburgh, C.S.C., President Emeritus of the University of Notre Dame greeted the icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa on Thanksgiving Day at the Holy Cross Retirement Center on the campus. Fr. Ted is world renown for his leadership over the course of decades at the university. His personal priestly example and dedication to many causes, especially Civil Rights, was extraordinary.

Along with Fr. Ted is Bro. James Lakofka, C.S.C.  both are the most senior members of the Congregation of Holy Cross. Bro. James hails from St. Constance Parish on the Northside of Chicago.

Getting ready to travel to Mexico – a stop in Chicago

The Black Madonna arrived in Chicago for the second time. This is a very special, as the peregrination is a chain of meetings and the rule is not to visit any place twice. Some people even joked that Our Lady loved Chicago so much that She decided to return. The reason for it was that the office of Respect Life of the Archdiocese of Chicago got involved in the next leg of the peregrination to Mexico.
