With great pride and joy, the community of St. John Paul II Parish in Stalowa Wola celebrated an extraordinary event. Our small Sanctuary became a stop on the historic pilgrimage of the Icon of Our Lady "From Ocean to Ocean." These were days filled with prayer, community, and the visible working of God's grace.
The visit of the miraculous Icon gathered an exceptionally large crowd of the faithful in the church. Our Lady, along with the parish priest, Dr. Rafał Tomoń, was solemnly welcomed by groups active in our parish:
- Knights of Columbus
- Living Rosary (Rosary Roses)
- The Daisy Movement
- Home Church
The prayer vigil was attended not only by our parishioners but also by numerous friends of the parish. The time spent in Mary's presence became a source of profound spiritual experiences for many. Through the intercession of Our Lady, many personal graces flowed down to all who confidently shared their intentions.
In the Footsteps of Our Patron Saint to the Co-Cathedral Basilica
After the pilgrimage and a moving farewell to the Icon, the celebrations moved to the Co-Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady Queen of Poland.
This place holds exceptional historical significance – the cornerstone for this church was personally consecrated by then-Bishop Karol Wojtyła, who later became our patron, Saint John Paul II. A solemn Mass, the heart of the entire event, was celebrated there.
Over Three Kilometers of Testimony: March for Life and Family
Immediately after the liturgy, we set off with the Icon of Our Lady on a 3.5-kilometer March for Life and Family. The event attracted crowds of Stalowa Wola residents. Entire families participated in the joyful procession – from the oldest to the youngest. The children were particularly delighted by the colorful balloons and pinwheels that became a symbol of this joyful holiday.
The march had a unique destination – we were heading to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Scapular (Rozwadów). It's worth noting that this neo-Gothic church from the turn of the 20th century is the only religious building of its kind in the region with Sanctuary status.
Sunny Blessing and a Joyful Picnic
The culmination of this beautiful day was a family picnic, during which the youngest actively participated in artistic performances and games. All participants agreed that this day was a special moment of Mary's intercession. Although the previous few days had been capricious and rainy, the sky cleared completely for the march and picnic, blessing us with beautiful, warm sunshine.
A Prayer That Continues
Throughout this holy time, through the intercession of Our Lady, we have been praying for necessary graces for our families, asking for strength in daily life, and for our deceased – for the gift of eternal life.
Mother of God, watch over us and obtain for us a fountain of graces through the intercession of Your Son, Jesus Christ!
